Fiona Sauder is a Director, Writer, Performer, and Educator with a focus in original, multidisciplinary works.
They co-founded Bad Hats to champion artists with an appetite for collaborative working models and stories that implore our curiosity. Both in the work she creates and facilitates, Fiona looks for ways to highlight the wisdom of our younger generations and offer it to the generations who have come before; as a gift, as a request, as a challenge. Fiona is committed to creating environments centred around play as an act of resistance.
Outside of Bad Hats, select directing credits include: Every Brilliant Thing / Bed and Breakfast (Orillia Opera House); A Year With Frog and Toad (Capitol Theatre); Holiday Inn (Asst. Shaw Festival); Uncovered: The Music of ABBA / Uncovered: The Music Of Dolly Parton / Baapii Roho (Musical Stage Company); Afro-Peruana (Canadian Stage); Mamma Mia! / American Idiot / Les Miserable In Concert (YES Theatre). Select performance credits: Universal Childcare (Quote Unquote / Canadian Stage / Nightwood); La Bete (Soulpepper Theatre); Under The Stairs (Young People’s Theatre); The Fighting 61st (Blyth Festival); Othello / Taming Of The Shrew (Driftwood Theatre). Fiona is a multiple Dora Mavor Moore Award winner and has been shortlisted for The Gina Wilkinson Prize.
